Legal information & sourcing
The organization behind this website, the standard applied to every factual claim on it, and how it handles copyright and visitor privacy.
Publisher of this website
This website is published by the Dooher Institute of Physics and Energy, an organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as exempt under section 501(c)(3) with a ruling date of July 2001, EIN 11-3576524. Address of record: Kailua, Hawaii, United States. Detailed IRS classification and filing information is available on the nonprofit and governance page. Contact: peterjdooher@dooherinstitute.org. Details and verification links are on the nonprofit and governance page.
Sourcing standard
Every externally verifiable factual claim on this website is supported by a public source that is cited on the page where the claim appears. The sources were surveyed and each claim recorded before any page of this site was written. The standard applied was as follows.
Source hierarchy
- United States government records — IRS, Department of Energy, NETL, OSTI, NASA, USPTO — and State government records.
- Official university pages, bulletins and news.
- Journal publishers and Crossref, which is the authority used for every digital object identifier, volume, issue and page range on this site.
- Patent-office records.
- Conference proceedings and laboratory publication lists.
- Nonprofit databases republishing IRS filing data.
Search-engine results were used only to locate candidate sources and never as evidence.
Rules applied
- Current and historical facts are distinguished. Every title and role is dated to the source that establishes it. A title held in the past is never presented as current.
- The Institute is distinguished from Adelphi University. Research carried out at Adelphi University is identified as Adelphi work, including work that predates the Institute by decades. Work in which the Institute was itself a named participant is identified as such.
- Reported facts are labeled as reported. Where a statement rests on the Institute’s own account or on a self-reported university profile rather than an independent record, the page says so and attributes it.
- Funding figures are not combined. Agency shares, recipient shares and total values are kept separate, and the recipient of an award is always named.
- Claims are sourced conservatively. Public statements are tied to the strongest available institutional, government, publisher or nonprofit record.
Copyright
The text, stylesheets, scripts and diagrams of this website are © 2026 Dooher Institute of Physics and Energy. Bibliographic metadata — titles, authors, journal names, volumes, pages and digital object identifiers — is factual information reproduced from the publishers and government records cited.
No publisher PDF is hosted on this website. Links to published papers go to the publisher of record, to a government repository such as the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information or NASA NTRS, or to a copy the author has made available. Quotations from external sources are short, attributed and linked to the original. Copyright in each published paper remains with its publisher or authors.
No third-party logo, trademark or brand mark is reproduced anywhere on this site. Organizations named in the record are named in text only. Naming an organization is a statement of fact about the documented record and does not imply its endorsement, sponsorship or continuing involvement.
Diagrams and images
This website contains no photographs. No photograph of the Institute, its founder, or any facility is published, because none is available for publication. No stock photography and no generated portraiture is used anywhere on this site; the monogram on the researcher profile is a typographic device and is labeled as such. Diagrams are drawn as vector graphics for this site and are labeled “conceptual illustration” where they explain a concept rather than depict a specific apparatus, plant or experiment.
Privacy
This website is a set of static files. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking of any kind, embeds no third-party scripts, fonts, images or media, and carries no advertising. It makes no network request to any third party when a page loads. It contains no form and collects no information from visitors. The only script it loads is a small file that makes the navigation menu collapsible on narrow screens and adds a citation control to the publications page; both are optional, and every page is fully readable and navigable with JavaScript disabled.
The web host serving these files may keep its own server logs, over which the Institute has no control beyond its choice of host.
Accuracy and limitations
This site records the state of the sources on 31 August 2026. External pages change and external links may break; where a link fails, the archived version of the cited source is the appropriate recourse, and the citation on the page gives enough detail to identify it.
Nothing on this website is legal, financial or tax advice. Anyone relying on the Institute’s tax status for a deductibility, grant-making or due-diligence decision should verify it directly in the Internal Revenue Service records linked from the nonprofit page rather than relying on this site.
Corrections
Corrections are welcome and will be made. Please write to peterjdooher@dooherinstitute.org with the statement concerned and, where possible, a citable source.
